How to add more cuddles and meows to your daily life?
Some cats are known for their independence and untouchability, who prioritize their own safety and personal space. The cold, mysterious and distant image might make you might even consider them as “no love”. You feed them, play with them, and keep their litter box clean, but how come there is no tiny bit of love in return? The following tips might help discover their affectionate side:
1. The cat's love language
“Slow blink” is a way for cats to express love toward each other. This non-verbal action might help communicate your love toward them and approach them softly and gently. It’s not just adorable—it’s actually a huge sign of affection and trust in the cat world.
2. The “cat plant” can loosen them up
Catnip can be a great secret weapon to trigger their relaxed states and euphoric responses, like rolling, zoomie, rubbing, etc. It’s like an alcohol-free champagne with no hangover, don’t worry. Tips: offer it before a cuddle and training session so both of you can strengthen your connection and gradually melt those frosty feline walls.
3. Treat their loving side
If your cats are foodies, offer their favourite snack after they show even a tiny bit of affection can reinforce positively with their loving behaviour. Tips: do not offer their favourite snack easily, but conditionally in exchange for some affection.
4. Talk to them like they are humans
Talking to them might sound a little silly at first, but interacting with your cats as much as you can; that way will make them feel important and safe. Some cats might even respond to you as they can recognize your voice.
5. Patience is key
Take each step slowly and make sure your cats are comfortable with your approach. At the end of the day, you know your cat the most. Award and appreciate them with those small moments. Trust will grow along the way and be your purrfect company.
Some cats seem distant or untouchable, but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel love—they just show it differently. By using gentle gestures like the slow blink, catnip toys, rewarding small affectionate moments, talking to them regularly, and—most importantly—being patient, you can slowly earn their trust. With time and care, even the most reserved cat can become a loving, purring companion.
